Things to Do

-Premier Attractions At The Patch-

Mazes – Public consensus suggests that a pumpkin patch can never have too many mazes? We agree, and proudly present our Straw Bale, Sunflower, Willow, Broomcorn and Mini [toddler] Mazes – all fun, free of charge and available at all times.

We also invite you to our Great Maize Maze which is one full acre of cornfield fun that centers around an elevated platform providing a super 360° vantage point – take in all the spectacular Pumpkin Patch sights from a distance. The corn maze is available on weekends for $2 for ages 6 and up; ages 5 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Restored One-room Schoolhouse – This is Center School, and it is rich with the history of rural life. This simple building speaks volumes indicating from where we’ve come. The structure is authentic, the artifacts are original. This is literally the real thing! We have certainly come a long way. Sometimes it takes only a few steps into the past to propel us miles into the future, keeping a firm grip on our sense of appreciation every step of the way.

Wanda’s Haunted Crib – This may be the first time you hear this, but “this is for the faint of heart.” We have intentionally designed Wanda’s Crib as one of the mildest haunted environments into which you’ll venture. We do want our little visitors to enjoy the flavor of the season, and we find that not inducing nightmares can be very enjoyable. Still, we do encourage the adults to scope it out first before letting their little ones in – just to play it safe!

Bridle Gift Shop – Just next door to the TGPP Museum is where you’ll find our Bridle Gift Shop. Our gift shop is known for its wide range of collectibles, keepsakes, décor accessories, snacks, CDs, books, games, crafts, toys, season fashions and gift wares, and countless other boutique items that simply must be explored. Truly you will find some things here that we challenge you to find anywhere else.

Farm Animals – Diversity is a key word on our farm. We offer our visitors a fine medley of farm animals that throws a spotlight on the purpose, the nature and the significance of earth’s broad assortment of creatures. We say, “Vive la différence!” Our critter lineup includes llama, goats, potbellied pigs, alpaca, sheep, chickens, guineas, roosters, turkeys and geese.

The Homestead Seeds [THS] Store – TGPP can provide you with the freshly harvested fruit from the vine, or with the seed for you to grow your own. Catering to your gardening urges, you will find nearly one hundred different seed varieties of squash, pumpkins and gourds to help you map out your next spring’s planting. Step into our store, experience the rustic ambiance of yet another authentic farmyard building found here at TGPP.

U-Pick Patch – Only you know exactly which pumpkin suits your fall-time needs. For decorating, cooking, baking or carving, picking pumpkins is a fall-time tradition for countless folks. Pick that perfect pumpkin from the hundreds that are still on the vine, or select one of the hundreds of our pre-picked pumpkins. Either way, The Great Pumpkin Patch has just the pumpkin you’re looking for this fall season.

Gardens & Nature Retreats – Scattered about within our 11 acres of family fun, you’ll find our quaint, peaceful gardens that invite you in for a deep breath of calm that suppresses that daily hectic pace. Each garden has its own unique essence to experience. And just east of our willow maze is our Prairie Land, which has been sentimentally and accurately preserved each year to illustrate the findings of Westward US travelers as little as ~150 years ago. Much to our gratitude, these Westward trekkers painstakingly cultivated this land into mile after fertile mile of lush Central Illinois farmland.
