Yes, we’re open seven days a week!

The year 2013 marks our family’s 25th year of inviting guests from near and far to celebrate the beauty of harvest with us. We prepare year-round for our “pumpkin season” of September 15 through October 31. Our working, family farm is also busy with preparations for planting and harvesting corn and soybeans and commercial pumpkins. Our farm has been in the McDonald-Condill family for five generations and even the sixth is pitching in to pick pumpkins and arrange displays. The Great Pumpkin Patch, The Homestead Bakery and The Homestead Seeds invite you to experience autumn with us, because we are much more than a typical pumpkin patch.

The Great Pumpkin Patch is proud to invite guests to see over 300 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds from over 30 countries around the world; all grown here on our farm.  We love what we do and take great interest in providing beautiful surroundings in which to educate our guests about the Cucurbit family.  Numerous premier displays, over 5,000 hardy mums, various mazes and gardens grace the grounds.  We exhibit our love for diversity, through not only plants, but animals- featuring several goats, pigs, exotic chickens, rabbits, a llama and an alpaca.  There are several places to eat and drink on the farm and lots of entertainment on the weekends.

The Homestead Bakery, which opened its doors in 2006, features made-from-scratch baked goods. The bakery offers cookies, sweet breads, yeast breads, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, angel food cakes, jams, jellies, salsa, noodles and Amish peanut butter. During pumpkin season, visit The Homestead Bakery for a variety of pumpkin baked goods made from our own pumpkins. September 15 through October 31 the bakery is open 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. In the off-season, please visit our website for hours.  Baked goods are always available through phone or e-mail orders.

Launched in 2008, we offer heirloom cucurbits through The Homestead Seeds. During pumpkin season, visit our historic workshop to pick up a bottle of our 100 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. Our heirloom cucurbit seeds help preserve genetic diversity, which is something we feel passionate about.

Named Illinois Agritourism Business of the Year in 2009, The Great Pumpkin Patch is much more than an ordinary pumpkin patch. One of our driving goals is to provide a safe, family-fun atmosphere where learning can take place. Our family farm is located in the heart of Amish country, 2 miles south and 1/2 mile west of Arthur. We are open from September 15 through October 31 every day, seven days a week, from 9 am to 6 pm. Admission is charged. We hope to see you this harvest season.
